I am a certified dog behavior consultant through IAABC, certified professional dog trainer through CPPDT, and also a certified instructor in Nosework through NACSW and in Tricks & Canine Fitness through DMWYD and certified Service Dog Coach through Cooperative Paws. I am also a certified Family Dog Mediator.
I have been a lifelong lover of dogs. But it wasn’t until I rescued a fear-aggressive little poodle mix named Bailey in 2010 that I became serious about dog behavior and training.
To help Bailey build his confidence, I began taking him to classes at the Marin Humane for obedience, agility, nosework and tricks. I also started to volunteer at the Behavior & Training department at the Marin Humane to broaden my learning and understanding of canine behaviors. I volunteered for 5 years before I became a group class instructor for dog training classes. During that time, I immersed myself in the areas of helping with group dog training classes, walking shelter dogs and their assessments and assisting in behavior consultations.
During 2016-2018, I took the role as the client services supervisor at Marin Humane and managed a group of dog training instructors, behavior consultants and two volunteer groups, dog training assistants and behavior consult assistants.
Through attending many canine classes, workshops, behavior seminars and canine conferences, I have gained better understanding about dogs and their behaviors. I also realize that “having fun” is a key factor in learning effectively, especially for both the teacher and learner.
My goal and focus are to share my canine knowledge with dog owners and help them find joy in training their dogs.
I offer in-person canine behavior consultations and private dog training in Marin. I also provide virtual sessions over Zoom for clients reside outside of Marin. I teach basic obedience, puppy training/socialization, tricks, body conditioning exercise, scent work and coach owner-trainers on service dog tasks. My specialty is working with fear-aggressive dogs on behavior modifications.
